Sick Kids

About ten days ago, my daughter told me that my grandson had awakened during the night and had been throwing up ever since. It lasted two days and then he was fine. When HE got better, my daughter got it. Lasted another two days. That night, when SHE was feeling better, my granddaugter got it. Yep, you got it. It lasted two days.

They came up here to visit over the weekend and everyone was healthy and doing well. Yesterday, a full three days after the kids left, Tessi came home complaining of a stomach ache. They had cooking class, made some sort of Chinese dish with rice and she said immediately after eating it she felt bad.

I think we've determined that she has some kind of intestinal bug and not anything food related. She took some pepto, went to cheerleading practice last night, felt good and came home to eat a dish of ice cream. This morning she woke up with really bad intestinal (not stomach) pains. She stayed home, slept most of the morning and has been lounging around ever since. She's wrapped in a warm robe and a fleece blanket. She still has stomach pains but no throwing up. I guess we can be thankful for small things. I only hope it's gone by tomorrow because she really can't afford to miss another day of school. No school, no cheerleading practice-and she really looks forward to THAT!!

Funny how things happen when you don't have kids in the house. You don't see this kind of illness much. I'm not around children much in my line of work, and my husband doesn't see kids on any kind of regular basis. You forget about all the stuff going around in the schools and how, no matter what, it gets brought home.

Me? I'm keeping my distance!
