Pictures

I take lots of pictures. My camera sits next to my chair in the den so it's always handy. My new cellphone has a decent camera built in so I often use that when I'm not home. But my preference is my camera.

Over the years, I've taken thousands of pictures. In fact, about two months ago my computer was running really slowly and I took over 7000 pictures off and put them on CDs. Easy to access, lots of free space on the computer. From now on I'll do it once a year to make it easier. Last time it took nearly a whole day.

One of the blogs I read has a photography category where the blogger has contests. She has upwards of 40,000 entries (and yes, you read that right) for every contest she offers. This week, her contest was for anything with four legs. You can upload one picture a day and she narrows it down for 5 or 6 days in a row to around 10 pictures each day. Because I take lots of pictures of my pets, I had three really good pictures to enter.

Unfortunately, none of them was chosen. This blogger opens her contests to anyone. That opens them up to professionals as well as people like me who have no real skills or photoshop programs to "fix" pictures. I use Picasa, but it's very limiting as to what I can do. It does the job for me.

The picture here today is one of the ones I entered. When I look at the pictures that have been chosen as finalists, I can see why MINE wasn't chosen. But I like it and thought I'd share it here.
